A giant manta ray was found dead after it became entangled in a ship's anchor.
Men aboard the oil-rig servicing vessel in the South Atlantic will have no doubt go the shock of their lives when they noticed the large see creature being hauled up as they were about to set sail. It is believed the anchor accidentally hit the ray while it was resting on the ocean floor just off Nigeria's Bonny Island.

Giant mantas, which are found in temperate regions, can measure up to nearly 30 feet across and weigh more than a ton. They eat plankton and do no possess stinging spines.
The crew posed for pictures with the manta before it was sold to local fishermen for around five thousand Naira (around $30).

It is thought some of the men were disappointed it couldn't be used for research purposes.
